BELONG team presenting at Conferences in the UK

How prepared are hairdressing salons and GP practices for working in partnership to promote the uptake of cardiovascular disease (CVD) screening among women living in London’s deprived and ethnically dense communities? BELONG STUDY

In July, I had the honour of presenting our research at 3 conferences in the UK, in the form of two posters and one presentation. I presented my poster at the 27th Annual WONCA Europe/RCGP Conference and The HEART UK 2022 conference, whilst my presentation took place at the 50th Annual Scientific Meeting of the SAPC. The experience was highly enjoyable as I was able to meet and learn from professionals in the field and demonstrate my enthusiasm for our research as well as others’.

As part of my intercalated Bachelor’s degree in Primary Care at King’s College London this academic year (2021/22), I studied the readiness of hair and beauty salons to take part in an intervention promoting heart health in ethnically diverse women from London. The project was supervised by Dr. Mariam Molokhia and Prof. Seeromanie Harding, and overseen by Dr Marjorie Lima do Vale. I look forward to taking this research further and grasping more opportunities in the academic field in the future!
