ABOUT OUR PROJECT

The BEauty and health community LOuNGes (BELONG) study is being designed by researchers at King's College London in collaboration with hairdressers, clients, and healthcare professionals in the UK. BELONG is an innovative salon-focused health promotion initiative. It aims to positively impact the lives of many women in South and West London by supporting the creation of beauty and health community lounges that facilitate awareness and access to resources that support heart disease and breast cancer prevention.

"Integrating community structures, such as hairdressing and beauty salons into existing primary care pathways can provide a sustainable process to address inequalities in access to health care"

The project is a part of King's College London's Health Inequalities, Societies, and Systems and aims to address the systemic and intersecting factors of disparities related to cardiovascular and breast cancer for the women from BAME community.
